Melanie-Ann Sher (19**-). Actress.

Training

Obtained a B.A. Performers Diploma in Speech and Drama from University of Cape Town (UCT).

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Performed in A Midsummer Night's Dream (for Robert Möhr), Paradise is Closing Down (for Pieter-Dirk Uys), The Rise and Fall of the First Empress Bonaparte (for Pieter-Dirk Uys), The Fantastical History of a Useless Man (for Ken Leach), The Cherry Orchard (for Ken Leach), Kinkels innie Kabel (directed by William Egan), Die Wonderwerk (as “Helen Keller”),

(On his website Pieter-Dirk Uys mentions a Melanie-Anne Asher as a performer in the first production of Paradise is Closing Down at the Grahamstown Festival in 1977 (http://pdu.co.za/works.html). But elsewhere the name is written Melanie-Ann Sher, also in subsequent productions of Paradise is Closing Down at the Market Theatre and other works. Presumably this is the same person.)
