Biography
Margot passed away on 19 January 2021.
Training
She studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
Played roles in Karnaval (Pieter-Dirk Uys, 1975) and Piekniek te Velde at The Space in the 1970s.
Other roles on stage were in Dokter teen Wil en Dank (1970), Die Blindes (1970), Ampie (1971), Koning Lear (1971), In Camera (1976), Roulette (1977).
She became involved in radio and later televsion in 1978, specialising in drama, but also producing documentary programmes; compiling and presenting music programmes, poetry programmes, arts programmes, consumer programmes, etc.
In the 2000s became a prominent character actress in TV soaps and dramas, i.a. Agter Elke Man, Geraldina die Tweede, Dirk de Villiers's immensely popular Boer War series Arende, Soutmansland and Chris Barnard’s detective comedy Amalia.

Margot has won several Artes Awards as director and translator. In 2012 was awarded by the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns for her radio work.
