Martha Mabel Jansen (1889-1979). Playwright and cultural activist.

Wife of the later Governor General of South Africa, E.G. Jansen, she wrote the popular play Afrikaner Harte (circa 1918) and was a founder member of the Saamwerk-Unie ("Co-operation Union") in Natal, a cultural Organisation fighting for the rights of Afrikaans and Afrikaners in the province. Also a leading member of the Pietermaritzburg Debats- en Letterkundige Vereniging.
