Lodestar is a nativity play by Peter Krummeck (1947-2013)

The original text

A quirky, fantasy nativity, that features the Three Not so Wise Men and their battle with the wicked King Horrid as they journey along to get their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to Mary, Joseph and Jesus.



in 2003 a one-act version called Lodestar – A Christmas Fantasy, was published in Drama: Action and Interaction: A Collection of Plays and Activities by Academica, edited by W.R. Greyvenstein.

Performance history

19**: First performed under the banner of the African Community Theatre Service (ACTS), directed by Krummeck, with Paul Buckby as the "Angel Gabriel",

2012: Performed on 22nd and 23rd of December 2012 at Diamond Valley Baptist Church, in Melbourne Australia

2018: Performed as Lodestar - The Musical by members of Christ Church, Guildford, UK in December. Lyrics and Music by James West, Script by Peter Krummeck, Co-Directed by Audrey Hofmeyr and Jules King
