Kurt Wustmann (1971-2013) was a South African actor and director.

Biography

Kurt graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1990 and became a freelance actor and director. Later also became the Creative Director for The Event Production Company.

Died unexpectedly of cancer on 12 November 2013.

Roles over the years include:

The Merchant of Venice (Maynardville, 1992); Antony and Cleopatra (1993); Medea (directed by Mark Fleishman, Magnet Theatre, 1994-1996); David Hirson’s La Bête (as Valere), (Nico Arena, 1995); Macbeth (as Macduff, 1996), I Do x 22 (directed by Mark Fleishman, Magnet Theatre, 1997/8); Twelfth Night ( Maynardville, 1998); How I Learned to Drive (as Big Papa, 1998); Shopping and Fucking (directed by Fred Abrahamse, Baxter Theatre, 2000); Macbeth (leading role, directed by Geoffrey Hyland, Maynardville, 2004); Romeo and Juliet,(directed by Clare Stopford, The Actor's Centre, Tesson Theatre, Johannesburg Civic Theatre, 2008), Vigil (2008).

As director

Co-director, with Adrian Kohler, of the Handspring Puppet Company's The Chimp Project (2001)

Directed the cabaret Afro-Dizzia!, as a Sun City Extravaganza (2006).

Directed All Soaped Up... between fact, foam and fiction by Terence Bridgett (2011)
