Het van Verlangekraal is the title of a television series and a 2022 radio serial, both based on the novel of the same name by Johann Bekker (1918–1985)[].

Het van Verlangekraal: The novel

It tells the tale "Het Heiberg", the troubled and rebellious daughter of a poor sharecropper, her struggles at school and the role played in her recovery by her class teacher and his battle with the headmaster of the school.

Published by HAUM in 1960.

Het van Verlangekraal: The TV series

Adapted for TV by Leon van Nierop and filmed as Het van Verlangekraal by Jan Scholtz Films in 1983/1984. Series directed by Fred Nel, with Sally Campher (as "Het"), Emgee Pretorius, Schalk Jacobsz, Tromp Terre'blanche, Lida Botha, Anne-Marie Muller, Miems de Bruyn, André Verster, Elize van Vuuren, Theo Kritzinger, Chante Hinds, Francois de Bruyn and Irene Thain.

Series Cinematography was by Paul Marais, Film Editing by Ronelle Loots, Costume Design by Yvonne De Necker, Makeup Jean Fordsun, Production Management Charmaine Wolhuter, Art Department Gary McIlraith, Sound Joshua Loots, Leon Nel and Hofmeyr Scholtz, Camera assistant Dolf de Necker and Continuity Ilze Welgemoed.

Het van Verlangekraal: The radio serial

Adapted for radio by Leon van Nierop, the serial consisted of 40 episodes and was broadcast weekly at 14:45, from 28 April 2022 to 22 June 2022. Directed by , it features Ansu Visser, Sally Campher, Pietie Beyers, Estelle Terblanche, Andre Stoltz, Izel Bezuidenhout, Donovan Pietersen, Mari Molefe van Heerden, and Lelia Etsebeth.
