The Hebrew Oriental Opera Company, managed by a Mr Silberman, who was also an actor. It is possible that the company was based in Johannesburg.


Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

The company staged Judah Amachbee. (There are multiple spelling variations of Yehudah HaMakabi [Hebrew: יהודה המכבי], most commonly known as "Judah Maccabee" also spelt Judas Maccabeus, Machabeus, or Maccabæus. He was a Jewish priest and a son of the priest Mattathias who led the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire [167–160 BCE]).
