Hasie Kalbassie ("lit. "(little) rabbit calabash") is a children's play by an unnamed author.

The original text
A short play about an arrogant rabbit and a wily tortoise and the new dam built by the animals.
The character Hasie Kalbassie was first introduced in the popular South African story collection Die mooiste Afrikaanse sprokies by Pieter W. Grobbelaar (1930-2013)[1], published by Human & Rousseau in 1968.
The text of the play is unpublished, but a copy of the typed text was found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department's theatre archives and now held in the ESAT repository at the Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation, with offices at Pieter Okkers House, 7 Joubert Street, Stellenbosch, South Africa. Although no author is indicated, the name Elna Agenbach is written on the inside cover.
