Gerda Kruger (?-) is a lighting designer.

Biography

Training

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Kruger is one of South Africa’s most prolific lighting designers and has lit all types of shows for over thirty seven years. Her work covers corporate events, musicals, opera, ballet, drama and architectural lighting. She has worked in venues ranging from the State Theatre Opera to the open veldt near Taung.

Theatre: Langarm (Fugard Theatre; 2018), RENT, Parade, Spring Awakening, Shaka Zulu, Jock of the Bushveld, Cosi Fan Tutte, Falstaff, La Cenerentola, Faust and Don Giovanni.

She toured A Woman In Waiting to Azerbaijan and France and the production Mother To Mother, to the major theatres in South Africa and London’s West End as Production Manager and Lighting Designer.

Awards, etc

She was also the first woman inducted into the TPSA Hall of Fame in 2011 when she was honoured for her contribution to the entertainment industry in South Africa.
