Die Ontvoering ("the kidnapping") is an Afrikaans play by Anna Cloete (1916-1999).

The original text

A melodramatic text about a woman who wakes up in a strange bed, seemingly having been undressed by someone, and tries to work out how she got there. Slowly she begins to remember being kidnapped and now believes it is to be an attempt to blackmail her daughter who had inherited a large amount of money. Going into a panic mode she discover someone has put a gun in her purse, and in a panic she prepares to defend herself. On hearing a sound, she pulls the trigger...

But then the phone rings and it is her daughter calling. So she realizes, it was only a dream.

What appears to be a much annotated and edited typed prompt script of the text found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department's theatre archives and is now held in the Performing Arts Research Collection (PARC) at the Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation, with offices at Pieter Okkers House, 7 Joubert Street, Stellenbosch, South Africa.
