Die Doodloop-straatjie ("the dead end street") is an Afrikaans play by Anna Cloete (1916-1999)

The original text

A disturbing play about a woman - Maria- who finds out that her husband had another woman and descends into a second, alternative, life as a prostitute named Adel. The play focuses on the end of her life as the two alter-egos interact and descend into despair.


What appears to be a much annotated and edited typed prompt script of the text found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department's theatre archives and is now held in the Performing Arts Research Collection (PARC) at the Africa Open Institute for Music, Research and Innovation, with offices at Pieter Okkers House, 7 Joubert Street, Stellenbosch, South Africa.
