Claudia is a comedy in three acts developed by American writer and playwright Rose Franken [1] (1895-1988) from her novel with the same title, written circa 1939.

The novel Claudia was originally published by W.H. Allen in 1946.

Performance history in South Africa

1947: Presented by the Brian Brooke Company at the Hofmeyr Theatre, Cape Town, in 1947 with Johannesburg actress Sheila Lawrence in the title role opposite Brian Brooke.

1953: Produced by Taubie Kushlick, opening at the Library Theatre on 21 September with Gillian Whyte in the title role, also starring Joe Flannery (David), Dora Haber (Claudia's mother), Margot Brookes, Eric French, Hans Lange, Kit Peltason. Set by Giles Botbyl.
