Mr Nightingale (or Captain Nightingale) (fl 1850s) was the Port Captain and amateur actor/director in Simon's Town.

He apparently obtained the African Theatre for two (unspecified) nights in 1854, to put on Macbeth with the mariners of Simonstown, under the patronage of the Lt. Governor. Probably the same Captain Nightingale who later apparently appeared "in character" as "Macbeth" in an evening's entertainment put on by the amateurs of "the Royal Naval Theatre of the H.M.S. Megaera" in the Simon's Town Theatre on 28 March, 1859 (
