First performed in the English Opera House, London, on 18 April, 1836 ; Laura Keene's Theatre New York in 1858.

Published in London by John Duncombe Vol xxi, Dicks Vol 914, and Thomas Hailes Lacy Vol xxix in 1836 and by Samuel French, [The Minor Drama, no CLIX, 1858?] in New York.

Performance history in South Africa

1876: Performed as The Captain's not a Miss by the Disney Roebuck company in the Athenaeum Hall, Cape Town, on 25 July, with The Marble Heart (Lambert-Thiboust & Barrière /Selby)

1878: Performed as The Captain's not a Miss by the Disney Roebuck company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on "Regatta Night", 24 May, with Jack and Jack's Brother (Johnstone) and "the main scenes from Robinson Crusoe" (Defoe/ Byron)

1878: Performed as The Captain's Not-A-Miss by the Disney Roebuck company in the Theatre Royal, Cape Town, on 4 July, with Our Boys (Byron)
