Bruce Young (19**-). Actor, scriptwriter.

Biography

Youth

Training

He was a student of the Rhodes University Drama Department from 1979 - 1981 (BA Hons Drama).

Career

He has lectured at film schools. For 12 years he worked in film and television in the US before returning to South Africa.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a student he had roles in The Sand Labyrinth and The Bacchae by Euripides directed by John Burch.

He performed in Twelfth Night at Maynardville in 1978.

He has also appeared in Romeo and Juliet Maynardville 1980), She Stoops to Conquer - Mistakes of an African Knight, The Storyteller, First Monday in October, Unsentimental Journey (1992), Show Boat (PACT) and Mike van Graan's Two to Tango with Bo Petersen (2006).

As writer/director he worked on the documentary film Blood Lions (2013-2015) and as writer/director/producer on Eye Of The Pangolin (2017-2019).

Awards, etc

He has received several awards, among them Genesis Award - Humane Society United States, Mar 2016 and SAFTA – Best Series Writing Team for Sokhulu & Partner – SABC Series.
