As die Broek Pas by Manfred Karge (1938-)
As die Broek Pas ("If the trousers fit", a play on the Afrikaans idiom "as die skoen pas", "if the shoe fits") is the Afrikaans translation of Manfred Karge's German one-woman play Jacke wie Hose, known in English as Man to Man. Based on a true story, it follows Ella Gericke, who on her husband's death takes over his identity and lives as a man — Max Gericke, a crane operator — to survive the economic collapse of Weimar Germany and the Nazi years that follow.

Jacke wie Hose by Manfred Karge (born 1 March 1938, Brandenburg an der Havel) had its world premiere in 1982 at the Schauspielhaus Bochum, directed by Karge. For the play's origins and English-language history, see the Man to Man entry.

Performance history in South Africa
2010: The Afrikaans production — a TEATERteater production directed and designed by Marthinus Basson, with Antoinette Kellermann as Ella/Max Gericke — opened at the US Woordfees, Stellenbosch, in the HB Thom Teater on 1 and 5 March, as part of the Sanlam Dramafees and as a US Woordfees / Absa KKNK co-production. It went on to the Absa KKNK later that year, and ran at the Fugard Theatre, Cape Town, in August and September 2010 alongside the English-language production (Man to Man). The production and performance won numerous awards* that year.
