André Weideman (1976-). Actor.

Training

Studied drama at the University of Stellenbosch Drama Department graduating in 2000.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a student he performed in the musical Robin Hood (1998); The Crucible (1999); Alias in Wonderland (NAF 1999); Macbeth (as Macbeth, 2000); Vieux Carré (2000).

He has subsequently appeared on stage in productions of Antigone (by Sophocles) (2004); Cissie (2008); Antony and Cleopatra (as Antony, Maynardville 2010); Wees (KKNK 2011).

He also performed in the Kysmetmy production of the pantomime Dames en Here, Gouesneeutjie in the hall of the Jan van Riebeeck High School in Cape Town in 2008.

Andre is best known for his role as Kurt in the 2003 horror film The Bone Snatcher, which was shot on location in Cape Town and Namibia.

He has appeared in numerous television series including Swartwater, Sara se Geheim, Die Boland Moorde, Die Boekklub, Stokvel, Treknet, Vloeksteen and Fynskrif.

Winner of the Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Most Promising Student in 1999.
