The CAPAB Orchestra was an orchestra in Cape Town (1971-1993).

The CAPAB Orchestra was founded in 1971 as a department of the Cape Performing Arts Board (CAPAB) in Cape Town. Its initial functions were: to provide accompaniment for ballet and operas; to present school and chamber music concerts; and to undertake tours throughout the Cape Province.

David Tidboald was the first Director of the CAPAB Orchestra. Tidboald resigned in 1982.

In 1993, The CAPAB Orchestra was renamed the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO). The CPO merged with the Cape Town Symphony Orchestra (CTSO) in 1997, becoming the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CTPO). The CTPO closed in 2000. A new orchestra was formed, under the older title of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO)
