Mrs J Tasker, formerly Miss Elaine English, came to Port Elizabeth in January 1946 as a speech training and dramatic art teacher at the Collegiate School for Girls. She studied at the University of Cape Town.

Contribution to South African Theatre

In Cape Town she was involved in the production of JB Priestley's They Came to a City at the Litle Theatre.

Also in Cape Town, she produced a pantomine for 400 "Coloured" children in the Cape Town City Hall.

1946: Produced William Shakespeare's As You Like It for the Collegiate.

1946: Acted in The Blue Goose for PEMADS.

June 1947: Once again produced JB Priestley's They Came to a City.
