The Famous Idea Trading Company was founded in 2002 by Gilly Hemphill and is a small arts and culture-dedicated public relations, publicity and sponsorship company based in Johannesburg Stellenbosch. The company offers the full range of strategic and operational publicity services, as well as managing and lobbying new and existing sponsors. Campaigns have been undertaken for the National Arts Festival, Grahamstown, the Spier Summer Arts Season, the Franschhoek Literary Festival, the Johannesburg International Mozart Festival, the Fugard Theatre in Cape Town, the Standard Bank Jazz Programme, the Nedbank Championship for the Physically Disabled and the The Stellenbosch University Institute for Advanced Study.


Gilly Hemphill, founder and director, received the Arts and Culture Publicist of the Year award, presented by the Arts and Culture Trust, in 2005.
