The Rhodes University Theatre Complex is a set of venues built for use by the Rhodes Drama Department.

Not to be confused with what appears to have been an earlier venue used by the department, which was usually referred to as the Rhodes Theatre. (For example, Athol Fugard’s The Blood Knot, featuring Fugard himself and Zakes Mokae, had its first production in the Rhodes Theatre in 1961.) The name was later used for the main venue in the new theatre complex.

The Rhodes University Theatre Complex was inaugurated in 1966 with a performances of Guy Butler's play Take Root or Die and Mozart's opera The Marriage of Figaro.

The Rhodes University Theatre

This is a formal proscenium arch theatre venue with orchestra pit, a computerised lighting board, good sound and flying facilities, four dressing rooms, and seats 369.

The Rhodes Box

The Rhodes Box is a smaller and extremely adaptable experimental performance space able to seat 120. It has a 42 channel lighting board and a four way sound system.
