VAN DER BYL, Pieter (1922-1992) - stage name "Piet Pompies". South African (Afrikaans) actor, writer, comedian and radio personality. Best known for his comedy work on national radio, often with Pip Friedman. Also appeared in some feature films, including Banana Beach (1970), Next Stop Makouvlei (1972) and Die Spook van Donkergat (1973). Writer of the story for the film Next Stop Makouvlei and the ascreenplay for the film Die Spook van Donkergat.
