VAN DER BYL, Pieter (1922-1992) - stage name "Piet Pompies". South African (Afrikaans) actor, writer, comedian and radio personality. Best known for his comedy work, often with Pip Friedman, on national radio. Also appeared in some feature films, including Banana Beach (1970), Next Stop Makouvlei (1972) and Die Spook van Donkergat (1973). Writer of the story for the film Next Stop Makouvlei and the screenplay for the film Die Spook van Donkergat.
