(19**-) Influential and controversial director.

Born in Germany ***, he was brought to South Africa in 1962 by Donald Inskip to work with the Department of Speech and Drama at the University of Cape Town. He would go on to do work for a number of other companies, notably the state-funded performing arts councils. He later married to equally controversial South African writer, director and actress Mitzi Booysen.?* In 1981 he received the Fleur du Cap Lifetime Award for his contribution to the industry.
