The Performance Initiative is a collective of artists, writers and designers, musicians whose common goal is to provide a platform for new work. Founded in 1997?* by Cathy Henegan, Francois Venter and Marc Odonovan(???**), it seeks to cross all language and cultural barriers, taking fundamental cultural South African stereotypes and taboos, and tossing them around. Members include Cathy Henegan, Francois Venter and Marc Odonovan, Bheki Vilakazi , Mncedi Day, Clara Khumalo. In 1997 they performed in Alexandra,and at the KKNK, Grahamstown Festival and Arts Alive with shows such as The Cleansing of the Temple by Julie Barker. Clara Khumalo in A1 Sweet Pham-Bham.
