A French play by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt (1960-). Based on his original French novel Oscar et le Dame rose (2002), adapted for the stage by Christophe Lidon and staged in French by Anny Duperey in France, Jacqueline Bir in Belgium, Rita Lafontaine in Québec, among others. Also broadcast on France 3 television (2007) and filmed by the author himself in 2009, with Michèle Laroque (2009).

Oscar et la Dame rose est une pièce de théâtre de Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt adaptée de son roman homonyme, mise en scène Christophe Lidon et créée à la Comédie des Champs-Elysées en 2003.

Translated into Afrikaans from the French as Oskar en die Pienk Tannie by Naòmi Morgan.

South African productions

A one-woman South African version of the Afrikaans text was directed by Lara Bye with Sandra Prinsloo, and opened at the Vryfees in Bloemfontein 2012, then toured the festivals between 2012 and 2014, winning numerous awards. . Lighting design Pieter-Jan Kap, with background music by Braam du Toit.

The English version was performed by the same company at the Baxter Golden Arrow Theatre from 29 July until 23 August 2014, with another run of the Afrikaans version in the same venue from 5 to 9 August 2014.
