The name Nasionale Kinderteater (Afrikaans for "National Children's Theatre") can refer to two organizations: A short lived Afrikaans company founded in 1968 by Johan Bernard and the Afrikaans name for the National Children's Theatre (originally the Johannesburg Youth Theatre, renamed circa 1990).

Nasionale Kinderteater (1968)

The Nasionale Kinderteater ("National childres's theatre") was founded by Johan Bernard in 1968, funded by his mother. The company consisted of Bernard himself (director), Johan Geyser (stage manager) and Lydia Theron (actress). They undertook a successful tour of the Transvaal towns with Bernard's translation of James Ambrose Brown's play Die Drie Wense ("The Three Wishes"), but then the funding was withdrawn by Mrs Bernard and the tour ended.

Nasionale Kinderteater (1990)

The Afrikaans name used to refer to the National Children's Theatre (originally the Johannesburg Youth Theatre, renamed circa 1990).
