[[Mr Poortemans]] (17**-18**) was apparently a [[magic lantern]] entertainer, who appeared in Cape Town as part of an evening's entertainment presented by [[Vlyt en Kunst]] in the [[African Theatre]] on 10 September 1836. His contribution was a "zeer prachtig Transparant" ("a very beautiful transparency"), while the rest of the programme included ''[[Montoni, of Het Kasteel van Udolpho]]'' (Duval/Bruggemans),  ''[[Nog Net Zoo|Nognetzoo]]'' (Boniface),  ''[[Het Fancy Bal!!!]]'' and,  as an interlude, by [[Mr Poortemans|Den Heer Poortemans]].
