After finishing her Honours degree in Drama at the [[University of Pretoria Drama Department]] as top student of her class in 1998, Mareli Minnaar started [[PIT Productions]], a production company with its prime goal being to entertain audiences and to serve as a developmental space for artists. With a passion for new plays and new ideas, Mareli produced and performed original scripts for the [[KKNK]] for 5 consecutive years. ''[[Zef Sketse]]'', a sketch comedy show written and performed by the key members of [[PIT Productions]], was hugely successful and laid the groundwork for the TV series ''Blikskottel'' in 2003 (kykNET). In 2005 SABC 2 commissioned [[PIT Productions]] to create the comedy series ''Kompleks''. Mareli was the executive producer as well as lead actress and co-writer of the series. As a firm believer in nurturing our country's youth, Mareli has also produced highly acclaimed educational programmes for matrics nationwide that have reached more than 120 000 students during the past seven years.
