Human & Rousseau is a South African publishing house.

Origins

Founded in 1959 by authors and publishers Koos Human (1931-)[1] and Leon Rousseau (1931–2016)[2], the business initially focused on publishing new wrting in Afrikaans, but later started publishing broader based South African works, in both Afrikaans and in English.

Literary and other publications

H&R Academica Uitgewers

In the 1980s the company also founded a subsidiary imprint called H&R Academica Uitgewers to publish books for school and university use (see also Academica Publishers).

Also referred to as Academica Uitgewers in Afrikaans, Academica Publishers in English or very often simply listed as Academica.
