Guardians of Eden was created by Nicholas Ellenbogen and Theatre for Africa. An improvised play utilizing mime, mimetic sounds, dance, songs, storytelling and minimalist techniques to address the extinction of birds and animals*. First performed at *1996, then toured the country.

It was presented at the Oude Libertas Theatre from 29 January to 1 February 1997, directed by Nicholas Ellenbogen and Patrick Mofokene, starring Samson Fele, Raymond Kasawaya, Nhlanhla Mavundla, Mandla Moyo, Jonathan Muthubi, Liz Szymczak and Msatero Tembo.
