Geoffrey Hyland (19**-) Cape Town baes actor, director/designer and lecturer.

Biography

Youth

Training

Went to school at Grey College, Bloemfontein, studied at the University of Cape Town and later became a teacher and Associate Professor there. Also studied at York University Toronto.


Career

He became a teacher and Associate Professor at UCT.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Won the Rosalie van der Gucht Prize for New Directors in 1989 and went on to become a successful director of student and professional work in Cape Town.

Productions include: The Yellow Wallpaper, French Gray, Miss Margarida's Way, Madame de Sade (1997), Macbeth 2004, Twelfth Night 2006,As You Like It 2009, Sacred Elephant (Cape Town, 2012), Between (Cape Town, 2013)


Awards, etc

Won the Rosalie van der Gucht Prize for New Directors in 1989.

He was the Young Artist Award winner for drama in 1997.
