Fernie Dance Academy was a dance school started in Port Elizabeth in the late 1940s/ early 1950s by Mervynne Fernie who was married to Haldane Venter. She later remarried Leo Karp. The Fernie Dance Academy was first situated at her house on River Road, Walmer, but later moved to a studio above Lillwell's Bakery in Rink Street when Mervynne Fernie moved to Mill Park.
