He was a student at the University of Cape Town Drama Department where he starred as "Vincentio" in Measure for Measure in 1975.

He has performed in Anastasia (PACT 1977), Die Kersietuin, El Grande de Coca Cola, Macbeth, The School for Scandal, The Archon, Rashomon, A Midsummer Night's Dream (as "Oberon"), Germanicus (with PACT).

Other productions include Die Keiser, 'n Man met Vakansie, That Skelm Scapino (as “Scapino” 1976), Die Vrek (as “Cleante” 1976), Oh What a Lovely War! (1980), The Front Page (1984), Twaalfde Nag (1981), Saterdag, Sondag, Maandag (TRUK 1978).

He directed a PACT production of Spoke in 1982.
