Enone van den Bergh (19*-) Actress. **

Biography

Born Enone Murray, she grew up in Krugersdorp, and began her theatre career as an amateur actress and a member of the Krugersdorp Municipal Dramatic and Operatic Society.

In 1950 she received a bursary from the NTO to study speech and drama at the University of Cape Town.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Turned professional in 1948/9 when she became a member of the first bilingual (Afrikaans/English) company set up by the National Theatre Organisation. Acted for them in Altyd My Liefste (1947/8) , Dear Brutus (1947/8 - under her maiden name), Nag het die Wind Gebring (1948/49), Minnaar onder die Wapen (Arms and the Man, 1949), Die Indringer (1949), The Guardsman (1949), Macbeth (in Afrikaans, 1950), Hassan (1950), Die Vrek (1951), The Glass Menagerie (Volksteater Pretoria, 1971).

Films include Onwettige Huwelik (1970), Die Vervlakste Tweeling (1969) and Sononder (1971).
