Also known as The Earth Players, Earth Players is a theatre company formed by Percy Mtwa and Mbongeni Ngema in May 1980.

Their first production was Woza Albert!, which they created and first presented in 1981, a work the company took on tour over a number of years.

Ngema later formed his own company, Committed Artists, while Mtwa continued with Earth Players.

The next work produced by Earth Players was therefore Bopha!, which Mtwa wrote and directed. It was staged at The Laager in October 1985, as a Market Theatre and Earth Players collaboration.
