There appear to have been two Afrikaans plays by this name, one an original play by Uys Krige, the other a translation by Leonie Pienaar of a one-act English play by F.M. Howard.

Die Arrestasie ("The arrest") by Uys Krige (1910–1987)

The original Afrikaans version of his comedy about the governorship of Willem Adriaan van der Stel. Commissioned for the Huguenot Festival in 1939 and produced by Volksteater in Pretoria on 22 September 1939, directed by Hettie Erlank.

First published in Die Wit Muur en Ander Eenbedrywe by Unie-Volkspers Beperk (Cape Town, 1940 and 1949). The Afrikaans text also published in Skerm en Masker (Van Schaik), Vier Eenbedrywe (Van Schaik, 1968) and Spel en Spelers (Van Schaik).

Translations and adaptations

Translated by Uys Krige himself as The Arrest and published in The Sniper and Other One-act Plays by HAUM in 1962 and 1964, as well as in Plays from Near and Far (eds Guy Butler and Tim Peacock, pub. Maskew Miller, 1972). **

It appears to have been adapted for radio as well, according to a full set of the radio scripts was found in the radio archives of the Stellenbosch Drama Departement in 2022.
