Translated into Afrikaans by Alewyn Lee as Misdaad op Bokeiland (1960).

Performance history in South Africa

Staged in English translation by Libertas Teaterklub in Stellenbosch in April 1965, directed by Piet van Straaten, with Eugene Olén, Mauritz van Aarde, Cynthia Bam, Ida Troskie and Fred Stephens.


Staged in English translation by NAPAC in June 1969, directed by Frank Shelley, at the Durban Jewish Club. Décor by Bill Smuts, costumes by Lucille Cross. The cast consisted of David Dunstone, Zoë Randall, David McKail, Anne Ridler and Shirley Maleham.
