Burlin der Diener, Vater, und Schwiegervater in einer Person ("The servant Burlin, father and father-in-law in one person") is a comedy in 5 acts by Karl Franz Romanus (1731–1787).

Original text
Most of Romanus's plays were adaptations of (unacknowledged) works by others and were originally published anonymously. This text was first performed in the Kaiserlichen Köninglichen privilegirten Theater on January 1, 1763 and published in Vienna at the Krausischen Buchladen in 1763.
Translations and adaptations
Adapted to a three act version called Der Doppelpapa (a "Posse in drey Aufzügen") by Friedrich Gustav Hagemann in 1810 and in turn translated into Dutch as De Dubbelde Vader by Willem van Dinsen, Jr. The Dutch version published by Johannes Christoffel van Kesteren, Amsterdam, 1819.
Performance history in South Africa
1847: Produced in Dutch as De Dubbelde Vaderon 7 September in the African Theatre, Cape Town by the joint company Tot Nut en Vermaak en Door Yver Vruchtbaar, as afterpiece to Gustavus, of De Zweedsche Mynwerkers (Lamartelière). (F.C.L. Bosman, 1928, has the latter title in Afrikaans format, as Gustavus, of De Zweedsche Mynwerkers.)
