Beer Adriaanse

Beer Adriaanse (1985-) is an actor, director, scriptwriter and musician.

Biography

Born Jacobus Petrus Adriaanse on 20 May, 1985 in Durbanville, , the son of author Wilna Adriaanse and brother of script writer Jaco Adriaanse. He generally known as Beer Adriaanse. He attended Gene Louw Primary School in Durbanville and the Paul Roos Gimnasium in Stellenbosch, before attending the University of Stellenbosch (obtaining a BA and B.Phil. in journalism) and the University of Cape Town (M.Phil. in film and media).

He first became well-known as a founding member of, and the drummer for, the Afrikaans rock band Zinkplaat.

As performer

He has appeared in a number of films, including: Johnny is nie dood nie (2016), Vir altyd (2016), Wonderlus (2017, as "Lukas"), Kanarie (2018), Vir ontbyt (2018), Poppie Nongena (2019, as "Koos"),

He has appeared in a number of TV Series, including, Buurtwag (2015), Hotel (2016-2020, as "Thomas van As") and Fynskrif (2018-2020, as "Corné Hanekom").

As writer and/or director

He soon turned to writing and directing, as well as other forms of involvement in film and TV work. For example he wrote, co-produced and co-directed the short film Beskermhere (2013), co-wrote (with Jaco Adriaanse) and directed the movie Parable (2020), wrote the TV Series Ekstra Medium (2020), five episodes of the TV Series Hotel (2020), the TV drama Laastes (2021).
