(“When the harness chafes”) by J.F.W. Grosskopf. A play about destitute Afrikaner farmers driven to the city. First produced by Paul de Groot (??*) in 1926, published by Nasionale Pers in 1926,with several reprints.

Grosskopf was awarded the Hertzog Prize for Drama in 1927 for As die tuig skawe and Drie Eenbedrywe which include In die Wagkamer, Die Spookhuis and Die Peswolk.

Directed by Leonie Pienaar for K.A.T. in September 1948.
