Arthur Sewell (18*-19*). Lecturer in English at the University of Cape Town (19*-1931?*), author and theatre personality.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Founded a "Garrick Club" in Cape Town, directing a number of works, among which his best was considered his version of Chekhov's The Seagull (18 August 1931), with which the Little Theatre opened.

Produced a Cape Town Repertory Theatre Society production of Candida in 1928 and also palyed the role of Eugene. He acted in their productions of Ghosts (1928) and The Jealous Wife (1930).

Author of the book The Physiology of Beauty (Kegan Paul, 1931).
