Arthur Maimane

(1932-2005). Expatriate South African dramatist, short-story writer and journalist. Born in Pietersburg, he was a contributor to Drum magazine before taking up a post with the BBC in London in 1958. Author of the one-act plays The Opportunity (1968), The Prosecution, Where the Sun Shines and The Hammer and the Nail. And the full-length play Hang on in There, Nelson (1996). Also wrote the long running TV series, The Chief, under the pseudonym “Arthur Mogale”.
