Romantic Comedy is a play by Canadian playwright and screenwriter Bernard Slade [1] (born 1930).

The original text
Opened on Broadway on November 8, 1979 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, where it ran for 396 performances. The original cast included Mia Farrow and Anthony Perkins.
Translations and adaptations
In 1983, Slade adapted his play for a feature film directed by Arthur Hiller.
Performance history in South Africa
1980: Presented by Pieter Toerien at the André Huguenet Theatre in September, directed by Charles Hickman, with Craig Gardner (Jason Carmichael), British actress Tammy Ustinov [2] (Phoebe), Paddy Canavan (Blanche), Iain Winter (Leo Janowitz), Roberta Durrant (Allison) and Beverley Melnick (Kate Mallory). This production was staged at the Baxter Theatre in October.
