Raeford Daniel
Raeford Daniel (1932/3?-1998) was a highly regarded South African theatre, film and ballet critic.

Biography
He was born in Pretoria in 1931 and matriculated at Wepener in the Free State, after which he worked there as a bank clerk. His great uncle on his grandmother's side was the Afrikaans poet and playwright C. Louis Leipoldt. He died unexpectedly of a heart attack in 1998, at the age of 66.
Career
He started his journalistic career at The Friend in Bloemfontein in the 1950s, and later worked for The Star, The Rand Daily Mail (for nearly two decades), The Citizen, and The Weekly Mail. Daniel was later appointed Arts Editor at The Rand Daily Mail, a position he held until the newspaper closed in 1985. He subsequently also served as Arts Editor of The Citizen, then for a while at the Weekly Mail before (apparently reluctantly) returning to the The Citizen.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
As an actor he appeared as "The Judge" in the TV film If This Be Treason (1998) by Cedric Sundström.
