The North-West University (NWU) is a tertiary training institution

Also referred to as Northwest University in some publications.

The university

Officially opened on 1 January 2004, the institution was part of the South African government's transformation plans for higher education and was made up of elements of three formerly independent universities. They were: the former University of North-West, the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education and the Sebokeng campus of Vista university.
