Douglas Blackburn

Douglas Blackburn (1857-1929). English journalist and novelist, who worked in the Transvaal and Natal between 1892 and 1908. He has been called "the great chronicler of the last days of the Boer republic. Author of the satirical novel Prinsloo of Prinsloosdorp (full title Prinsloo of Prinsloosdorp : a tale of Transvaal officialdom, 1899)and other works. From 1896 edited The Krugersdorp Sentinel and recorded the growth of an urban industrial culture in the Transvaal. [Wrote reviews of ***?? ]. He returned to England in 1908.
