Mr Poortemans

Mr Poortemans (17**-18**) was apparently a magic lantern entertainer, who appeared in Cape Town as part of an evening's entertainment presented by Vlyt en Kunst in the African Theatre on 10 September 1836. His contribution was a "zeer prachtig Transparant" ("a very beautiful transparency"), while the rest of the programme included Montoni, of Het Kasteel van Udolpho (Duval/Bruggemans), Nognetzoo (Boniface), Het Fancy Bal!!! and, as an interlude, by Den Heer Poortemans. Music provided by the musical group De Vriendschap
