(Piet) (19*-19*) Journalist?*, Broederbond leader, former head of the SABC and influential Afrikaner cultural leader. Born in ** he studied at the Grey University College and **. In Bloemfontein he was a member of the GUK Toneelvereniging (GUK Dramatic Society). In 1929 acted in the premiére production of Meester, written [and directed?] by the then professor of Afrikaans and Dutch, D.F Malherbe, and co-starring Malherbe, Benedictus Kok and Abraham Fischer / Bram Fischer and going on tour as actor in 1929 and 1930 under the leadership of H. van der Merwe Scholtz.** Wrote widely on cultural issues, notably on Afrikaner nationalism. Was greatly involved with the Federasie van Afrikaanse Kultuurorganisasies (FAK - "Federation of Afrikaans Cultural Organisations") and its Toneelbond ("Theatre League"). Became a founding member of the Afrikaner Broederbond, at one time chairman of it. Became chairman of the SABC Board of Directors in 19** and remained in the position till 19**.
