The African Theatre Association is an international society founded in 2006, ad is open to scholars and practitioners of African performance and theatre. Its primary aim, through its annual conferences, is to be a forum for the exploration of African performance and theatre processes.

AfTA publisheds the African Performance Review, a peer-reviewed triennial journal dedicated to publishing, disseminating and encouraging high quality research and information on theatres and performance in Africa and the African Diaspora.
